Glass lid vs steel lid: which is right for you?
| Glass lid (Solitaire) | Steel lid (Sorrento / Majestic) | |
|---|---|---|
| Visibility | See food without lifting the lid | Opaque — lift to check |
| Best for | Milk, chai, sauces, watching a simmer | High-heat frying, rough daily use |
| Durability | Tempered glass — handle with care | Very tough, near-unbreakable |
Choose Solitaire's glass lids when watching your food matters; if you prefer a steel lid, see the sandwich-bottom Sorrento and Majestic ranges.
Sandwich base vs triply
Solitaire uses a sandwich (encapsulated) induction base that spreads heat evenly across the bottom — ideal for the milk, sauces and gravies these pieces are made for. If you want three-ply construction that also spreads heat up the walls, see our Titanium Triply range.

Material, induction & care
Solitaire is food-grade, non-reactive, rust-free stainless steel on a sandwich induction base that works on induction and gas. The side handles make it easy to carry hot pots. Wash with mild dishwashing liquid and a soft sponge, and hand-wash the tempered glass lids gently. Backed by VINOD Steel's product warranty, from a brand making stainless steel in India since 1962.
Frequently asked questions
What is special about Solitaire cookware?
It pairs a sandwich induction base with tempered glass lids and side handles, so you can watch food cook and carry hot pots safely.
Glass lid or steel lid — which should I choose?
Glass lids (Solitaire) let you watch milk and sauces without lifting; steel lids (Sorrento, Majestic) suit high-heat frying and rougher use. Both seal in heat well.
What products come in the Solitaire range?
Saucepans, sauce pots, kadais and fry pans — all with glass lids — plus 2-piece gift sets.
Is Solitaire induction-friendly?
Yes. The sandwich base works on both induction cooktops and gas.
Which kadai size should I choose?
24 cm (3 L) for 3–4 people, 26 cm (4 L) for 4–5, 28 cm (5.2 L) for 5–6, and 30 cm (5.5 L) for 6–7.
Are there gift sets?
Yes — a 2-piece cookware set (saucepan + kadai) and a 2-piece sauce pot set (16 + 18 cm).
Is sandwich base the same as triply?
No. A sandwich base spreads heat across the bottom; triply also spreads heat up the walls. For triply, see the Titanium Triply range.
Is there a warranty?
Yes, backed by VINOD Steel's product warranty, from a brand trusted since 1962.
